Trump Considering Ground Troop Deployment in Iran, U.S. Newspaper Claims
The report claims that President Trump is weighing a possible ground operation to seize Iranian islands near the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump said Iran would be defeated soon and claimed that Tehran wanted a meeting to resolve the situation. “We will see whether we reach an agreement with them or not,” he said.
The U.S. president also welcomed Iran’s reported release of an American woman detained during the Biden administration, describing the move as a gesture of goodwill.
Responding to questions about a deadline for attacks on Iranian bridges, Trump said he did not like giving deadlines and added that Iran should improve its conduct.
Meanwhile, U.S. forces have reportedly carried out further strikes against Iran. U.S. Central Command said the operation targeted military capabilities it described as a threat to vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian media reported explosions in Sirik, Ahvaz, Chabahar and Bandar Abbas. According to reports, recent U.S. attacks have killed seven Iranian military personnel and 30 civilians.
The latest developments have further intensified tensions between Washington and Tehran, raising concerns about a wider regional escalation.
