US Confirms Seven-Hour Military Operation Against Iranian Targets, Reimposes Naval Blockade
According to the U.S. military, the operation concluded at approximately 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time after sustained strikes involving fighter aircraft, drones, and naval warships equipped with precision-guided weapons.
The statement said the attacks focused on Iranian military installations and coastal areas near the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. forces reportedly targeted missile and drone facilities, naval capabilities, coastal defense systems, and other military assets.
U.S. officials said the objective of the operation was to further degrade Iran's ability to threaten commercial vessels and civilian crews transiting the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most strategically important maritime trade routes.
The U.S. military also announced that it has reimposed a naval blockade on vessels traveling to and from Iranian ports.
