Pakistan Begins Crackdown on Illegal Afghan Nationals After Deadline Expires
According to official directives, Afghan nationals residing in Pakistan without valid visas will be subject to immediate detention as part of an intensified nationwide enforcement drive.
Authorities have also warned that legal action may be taken against individuals who knowingly provide shelter or rental accommodation to undocumented Afghan nationals, in accordance with applicable laws.
Officials said that geo-tagging and geo-fencing of Afghan nationals have been completed in Rawalpindi and other parts of Punjab to support enforcement efforts. Provincial administrations and law enforcement agencies have been instructed to submit daily reports to the Ministry of Interior detailing the number of undocumented Afghan nationals detained, along with updates on ongoing operations and the status of those in custody.
The Ministry of Interior had earlier issued directives on June 28 to provincial governments, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, instructing local administrations to accelerate enforcement measures and use geo-tagging data to identify and apprehend individuals residing in the country without valid documentation.
