Brutally Tortured
According to police sources, the horrifying assault took place after the victim’s in-laws accused her of possessing a mobile phone without their approval. The woman stated that she was stripped and beaten with heated iron rods and wooden sticks. She further alleged that her husband pulled her ears with pliers, while her mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and other family members participated in the assault. The brutal attack reportedly left her unconscious.
Police officials confirmed that immediate action was taken and all accused individuals have been arrested. An investigation is currently underway.
Following directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Chairperson of the Punjab Women Protection Authority Hina Parvez Butt took immediate notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the District Police Officer (DPO) Jhelum.
Hina Parvez Butt strongly condemned the violence, stating that abuse against women will not be tolerated under any circumstances. She emphasized that strict action will be taken against those responsible and that the victim will be provided with complete legal, medical, and psychological support. She reiterated that no individual will be allowed to take the law into their own hands.
