Powerful Blast in Bannu Kills 7, Injures 3 as IED Targets Passenger Vehicle
At least seven people were killed and three others injured in a powerful explosion in Bannu district on Friday after an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted a passenger vehicle, according to police.
The blast occurred in the Ping area of Domel tehsil, where a passenger Datsun vehicle carrying commuters from Hathi Khel village came under attack. Police said the explosion was caused by an IED planted along the route, resulting in multiple casualties on the spot.
Authorities confirmed that all seven victims died at the scene, while three injured individuals, including young children, were rushed to Khalifa Gul Nawaz Teaching Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
The explosion also damaged the vehicle of Tehsildar Wazir Abidullah, who was passing through the area at the time of the blast. However, officials confirmed that he remained unharmed.
Following the incident, law enforcement agencies and security forces reached the site, collected evidence, and cordoned off the area. A search operation has been launched to identify those responsible for the deadly attack.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over security in the region as investigations continue.
