PTI Leaders Sentenced to 10 Years in Another May 9 Case, Shah Mahmood Qureshi Acquitted
The verdict was announced by ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul at Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore, where the trial was held. The case was linked to the burning of police vehicles in the Mughalpura area on May 9.
Senior PTI leaders Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed, Ejaz Chaudhry, and Omar Sarfraz Cheema were each sentenced to 10 years in prison.
However, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi was acquitted in the same case.
According to court proceedings, the prosecution had submitted challans against 22 accused individuals. Statements of 37 prosecution witnesses were recorded and cross-examined during the trial. Two accused were declared proclaimed offenders during the proceedings.
The court issued its decision after completing the trial of 15 accused individuals in the case.
The verdict marks another major development in the ongoing legal proceedings related to the May 9 incidents, which have led to multiple trials and convictions of political figures.
