Massive Protest Demands Restoration of Previous Petrol Prices in Pakistan
Hundreds of rickshaw drivers also participated actively in the protest, expressing strong anger over the recent fuel price hike. Protesters raised slogans and carried placards and banners demanding immediate relief from soaring petrol prices.
During the demonstration, participants continued chanting slogans against the increase in fuel prices, calling it an unbearable burden on the common public.
The protesters stated that the rise in petrol prices in Pakistan was justified by citing increased global oil prices due to the US-Iran conflict. However, they argued that with Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts contributing to a possible ceasefire between the United States and Iran, global oil prices have now started declining.
They demanded that the Government of Pakistan immediately restore petrol prices to the levels before the US-Iran conflict, saying that lower fuel prices are essential to reduce inflation and ease the financial burden on citizens.
