US and Iran Sign Peace Memorandum to End War, Agreement Takes Immediate Effect
U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed the peace agreement earlier than scheduled, making the deal effective immediately.
According to reports, both leaders signed the memorandum electronically. The official signing ceremony was originally planned for Friday in Switzerland, but sources revealed that diplomatic efforts accelerated the process to ensure early implementation.
A mediator country’s diplomat and another source stated that both sides had been in discussions to finalize the agreement ahead of schedule and begin enforcement as soon as possible.
Diplomatic sources said one of the key objectives behind this rapid development was the urgent reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, as both parties had already reached an understanding on the issue.
Analysts suggest another reason for the early signing may have been increasing political pressure on the White House to release the text of the agreement.
However, one source claimed that Iran had insisted the agreement’s full text should not be made public before the official signing. The source also rejected suggestions that the decision was solely due to pressure on the White House.
The peace deal marks a major breakthrough in regional diplomacy and is expected to ease geopolitical tensions in the Middle East while stabilizing global energy markets.
