Pakistan Moves Toward Local Manufacturing of Solar Panels and Batteries
According to reports, the new solar policy is in its final stages and is expected to introduce a comprehensive strategy to accelerate Pakistan’s transition toward clean and affordable energy.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, revealed that the primary objective of the policy is to shift Pakistan from merely assembling solar panels to full-scale manufacturing.
He stated that this significant move would help reduce production costs of solar panels, enhance local manufacturing capacity, and promote technological innovation in the country.
Haroon Akhtar Khan also highlighted another major development, stating that the government is now focusing on battery technology to store solar energy generated during the day for use at night.
Under the proposed plan, batteries and other solar-related equipment will also be manufactured locally, further boosting Pakistan’s renewable energy sector.
The special assistant emphasized that local production of solar panels and batteries will accelerate Pakistan’s transition to eco-friendly and low-cost electricity. The initiative is also expected to create new employment opportunities and attract large-scale investment in the energy sector.
