Pakistan to host US-Iran signing
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Monday that Pakistan will host the signing of a US-Iran peace accord in Geneva, terming the agreement a "monumental milestone" for global peace.
Addressing the National Assembly hours after he and President Donald Trump confirmed the deal, Sharif said Washington and Tehran had agreed to an immediate and permanent halt to military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon.
This is not just an agreement between two nations, but a victory for peace, dialogue, and diplomacy over the devastation of war," Sharif said.
He praised Pakistan's army chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for helping keep faltering negotiations on track, and thanked the leaders of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, China, the US and Iran for their patience and wisdom.The prime minister acknowledged the economic strain from the conflict but pledged that the benefits of the peace deal would reach every Pakistani citizen.
