Pakistan Presents Rs18.77 Trillion Federal Budget for FY2026-27
The budget session, chaired by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, witnessed a tense atmosphere as PTI lawmakers raised slogans while independent members held placards to register their protest.
Beginning his budget speech, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said it was a great honor to present the government’s third budget under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for fiscal year 2026-27.
The federal government has allocated Rs3 trillion for national defense, highlighting security as one of its top priorities. According to budget documents, the increase in defense spending reflects regional uncertainty and the government’s commitment to making Pakistan’s defense stronger and more resilient.
Aurangzeb also acknowledged the financial difficulties faced by salaried individuals in both the public and private sectors. He announced that, on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government has decided to provide relief to the salaried class as part of the new budget measures.
