Karachi Braces for Intense Heatwave from Tomorrow as Temperature May Reach 42°C
According to the Met Office spokesperson, Karachi's temperature could reach up to 38°C today, while reduced wind speed may increase humidity levels, causing uncomfortable weather conditions and a higher heat index.
The department warned that from tomorrow until June 12, temperatures could range between 39°C and 42°C. However, due to humidity and weather conditions, the "feels-like" temperature may rise by an additional 8 to 10 degrees Celsius, making conditions much harsher for residents.
Officials said humidity levels are not dropping below 50% because of sea winds, increasing the chances of heat stress and dehydration.
The PMD advised citizens to take precautionary measures, including staying hydrated, covering their heads while outdoors, and avoiding unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, particularly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
