Respite in Lahore as westerly wave brings rain and heavy winds
The changing weather pattern dropped temperatures in Lahore down to 32°C, after daytime highs earlier in the week consistently pushed past 39°C. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) confirmed that a seasonal westerly wave is currently tracking over upper and central parts of the country, generating precipitation alongside swift, heavy windstorms across the region.
While the local downpours brought immediate atmospheric relief, provincial rescue services and the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) have been placed on high alert to handle potential urban flooding and structural damage in vulnerable neighborhoods.
Meteorologists expect the unstable conditions, which carry a 60% chance of further evening rain and isolated hailstorms, to linger through Friday before clear, dry summer skies reclaim the provincial capital over the upcoming weekend.
