Alleged Medical Negligence Sparks Controversy at Karachi's Hospital After Childbirth Incident
According to the patient's family, the woman reportedly waited for nearly four hours without receiving proper medical attention. They claimed that due to the alleged negligence of doctors and hospital staff, she eventually delivered her baby inside the ward's washroom, where female family members assisted during the childbirth.
Videos circulating on social media show the woman describing the incident, while another clip allegedly shows the washroom where the childbirth reportedly took place.
However, the hospital administration strongly denied the claims and issued an official clarification, calling reports of a washroom delivery "baseless."
According to the spokesperson for JPMC, the patient, identified as Nadia wife of Akram, was immediately attended by doctors upon arrival at the gynecology emergency department and underwent a medical examination. Following a clinical assessment, doctors decided to proceed with a normal delivery in the patient's best medical interest.
The hospital stated that a healthy baby was delivered inside the labor room at approximately 2:50 a.m., rejecting allegations that the birth took place in a washroom.
The administration further stated that the patient had certain high-risk medical complications, including low platelet levels and other abnormal laboratory parameters, requiring close medical supervision. Officials also claimed that the patient's relatives later took her from the hospital against medical advice.
