Professional Beggar Families Cash In on Eid Meat, Selling Sacrificial Meat in Twin Cities
According to reports, groups of beggar families have been moving door-to-door across the twin cities collecting both beef and mutton from residents. The gathered meat is then allegedly being sold to local butchers and vendors in temporary roadside markets.
In Rawalpindi, Jamia Masjid Road has reportedly turned into a temporary meat market where butchers from nearby neighborhoods are purchasing meat from these groups at lower rates.
Sources say beef is being sold for around Rs800 per kilogram, while mutton prices range between Rs1500 to Rs1600 per kilogram. Large trotters are reportedly being sold for Rs500 each, while smaller trotters are available for around Rs100 per piece.
Meanwhile, market vendors are preparing and selling cooked trotters at significantly higher prices. Prepared large trotters are reportedly being sold for Rs400 per serving, while smaller prepared trotters are being offered at around Rs650 per dozen.
The situation has sparked debate among citizens regarding the misuse of sacrificial donations and the growing trend of organized begging networks during Eid festivities.
