JI Announces Nationwide Shutter-Down Strike Against Inflation
In Lahore, the demonstration was led by Deputy Ameer Liaquat Baloch. Thousands of protesters participated in the rally, carrying placards and banners while chanting slogans against inflation and government economic policies.
Addressing the protesters, Liaquat Baloch stated that soaring inflation has broken the backs of poor citizens and made survival extremely difficult. He said the rulers must “correct their direction” and take urgent steps to provide relief to the public.
He warned that if the demands of Jamaat-e-Islami were not accepted, the party would march towards Islamabad and launch a nationwide wheel-jam and shutter-down strike.
The protests come amid growing public concern over the rising cost of living, fuel prices, and economic pressure on low-income families across Pakistan.
