All Detained Members of Global Sumud Flotilla Released from Israeli Custody
Turkish Foreign Minister officials confirmed that several humanitarian workers are being transferred to Türkiye following their release. Reports claim that the flotilla members faced severe physical and psychological abuse while in Israeli detention. Allegations include the use of taser guns, rubber bullets, and mistreatment of female participants, with claims that Israeli officers forcibly removed the hijabs of several women activists.
Meanwhile, far-right Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir shared a controversial video showing detained aid workers kneeling on the ground during custody.
The humanitarian flotilla, which was carrying aid for Gaza, included more than 400 activists and volunteers, among them Pakistani humanitarian worker Saad Edhi. The activists had been taken into what several countries described as “illegal detention” by Israeli forces. Pakistan and multiple other nations issued strong condemnation statements following the incident.
