Punjab Food Authority Cracks Down on Adulteration Mafia
According to the spokesperson, food safety teams led by the Director Operations South One conducted multiple raids on food points and businesses. During the operations, FIRs were registered against two food business owners, while the production of one shop was suspended until corrective measures are implemented.
Authorities registered a case against a grocery store after laboratory tests confirmed the use of artificial color in spices. In another action, a milk shop located on Zia Shaheed Road was sealed and an FIR was lodged after milk samples failed laboratory testing standards.
The food safety team also raided a warehouse and recovered 50 kilograms of adulterated tea leaves, which were later destroyed on-site. A fine of Rs50,000 was imposed on the violators.
The operations were carried out on the special instructions of Syed Musa Raza, who directed authorities to continue indiscriminate action against food adulteration across South Punjab.
Officials stated that food business owners must strictly comply with Punjab Food Authority laws and food safety regulations to ensure the supply of healthy and hygienic food products to consumers.
