Prince Rahim Aga Khan V Arrives in Pakistan on First Official Visit
President Asif Ali Zardari and First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari warmly received Prince Rahim Aga Khan at Nur Khan Airbase. Upon his arrival at the Presidency, a tri-services guard of honour comprising contingents of the Pakistan Army, Navy, and Air Force was presented in his honour.
During the visit, President Zardari, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari held meetings with Prince Rahim Aga Khan, followed by delegation-level talks focusing on development cooperation and humanitarian initiatives.
President Zardari also hosted a state banquet attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir, Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gillani, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, federal ministers, parliamentarians, and members of the diplomatic corps.
The President praised the longstanding contributions of the Aga Khan Development Network in healthcare, education, climate resilience, community development, and heritage preservation across Pakistan. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with AKDN for the welfare of vulnerable communities.
Prince Rahim Aga Khan thanked the Pakistani leadership for the warm welcome and reiterated his commitment to continuing humanitarian and development projects in Pakistan.
It is worth mentioning that during his previous visit in 2024, Prince Rahim Aga Khan was awarded the “Nishan-e-Pakistan,” the country’s highest civilian honour, in recognition of the Aga Khan family’s services to Pakistan.
