Deadly Blast in Lakki Marwat’s Sarai Naurang Bazaar Kills 9
Authorities confirmed that two traffic police officers were among those killed in the blast. Rescue officials said more than 42 injured individuals were shifted to nearby hospitals, including women and children, while an emergency was declared at Sarai Naurang Hospital.
Police and security officials stated that the explosion was apparently caused by explosive material attached to a motorcycle. Security forces immediately cordoned off the area and launched a search and strike operation to trace those responsible.
DIG Sajjad Khan said that initial investigations suggest the blast targeted civilians and police personnel in the crowded marketplace. He added that law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing the attackers and their facilitators.
Following the incident, strong anger and grief were reported among local residents against militant elements blamed for attacks on civilians and soft targets in the region.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed sorrow over the loss of lives, including the two traffic police officers, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism from the country.
The tragic attack has once again highlighted growing security concerns in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
