Sindh Govt Approves Quarterly Rs3,000 Financial Aid for Children Up to 5 Years
The government of Sindh has approved a new social protection initiative aimed at supporting young children and vulnerable women across the province.
The decision was taken during the third board meeting of the Sindh Social Protection Authority chaired by Murad Ali Shah.
Under the newly approved program, children from birth to five years of age will receive quarterly financial assistance of Rs3,000 as part of an Early Childhood Development initiative. The government said the program will focus on child growth monitoring, nutrition awareness, and school readiness to ensure healthier development during the early years.
The board also approved new cash assistance programs for approximately 885,000 children and rural women. Officials stated that rural women will receive monthly financial support during non-productive periods to help reduce poverty, debt burdens, and food insecurity.
During the meeting, authorities revealed that the “Mamata Program” has now been expanded to 22 districts, benefiting more than one million people across the province. Various social protection initiatives are currently being implemented with a budget of Rs56 billion.
