Pakistan Engages Somalia for Safe Release of 11 Citizens
According to Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi, the pakistani nationals were aboard a maritime tanker intercepted near the Puntland region of Somalia. He stated that Pakistani authorities are in continuous contact with Somali officials as well as the ship’s owner to ensure the Realsing of the hostages.
During the weekly press briefing in Islamabad, Andrabi emphasized that the protection and welfare of pakistani abroad remains a top priority for the government, and all possible diplomatic efforts are being made in this regard.
He also revealed that 84 pakistani citizens are currently stranded in Cambodia, including 76 men and 8 women. Many of them reportedly overstayed tourist visas, while some were found involved in online fraud-related jobs. The Pakistani diplomatic mission in Cambodia is working closely with local authorities and providing essential support, including food and basic necessities.
On regional developments, the spokesperson noted that negotiations between Iran and the United States are ongoing, and Pakistan continues to play a constructive diplomatic role in promoting peace in the region.
