Cross-Border Shelling from Afghanistan in South Waziristan
According to security sources, mortar shells fired from across the border struck residential homes belonging to local residents Karim Khan and Rehmatullah. The attack caused injuries to four children and one woman, who were immediately shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Wana for medical treatment.
Sources added that the shelling originated from areas across the border in Afghanistan, and described it as unprovoked targeting of civilian populations. This is not the first such incident; a few days earlier, similar cross-border firing in the same المنطقة had left three people injured.
In response, Pakistan Army carried out a strong retaliatory action, targeting multiple positions across the border. Security officials stated that the response was effective, forcing opposing عناصر to abandon their posts and retreat.
Authorities have condemned the attack and reiterated their commitment to protecting civilians living in border areas. The situation remains tense, with continued monitoring along the border.
