Trump Declares End of Ceasefire with Iran, Reaffirms Hardline Stance on Nuclear Program
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the NATO Summit, Trump said the United States carried out military operations against Iran in response to recent Iranian attacks, adding that Washington would continue to take all necessary measures to protect its interests and allies.
The US president said he believes the understanding reached with Iran is no longer in effect, claiming that Tehran had wasted valuable time during negotiations and that he was no longer interested in pursuing a deal with the Iranian government.
Trump reiterated that the United States would not allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons under any circumstances, describing the country's nuclear program as a major security concern.
He also claimed that Iran's military leadership had been eliminated and replaced by a new leadership. However, Trump did not provide evidence to support the claim, and it has not been independently verified.
Commenting on NATO, Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the alliance's performance, saying it had not provided the level of support the United States expected regarding the Iran situation.
He further noted that the United States remains NATO's largest financial contributor and urged allied nations to shoulder a greater share of the alliance's responsibilities.
The latest remarks come amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, with fears growing that renewed military exchanges could further destabilize the Middle East.
