Rickshaw Drivers Stage Protest Against Inflation, Rising LPG Prices and Food Costs
Hundreds of rickshaw drivers participated in the demonstration, carrying placards and banners and chanting slogans against inflation and the rising cost of living.
The protesters said LPG, which they claimed should be available at around Rs. 240 per kilogram, is being sold for as much as Rs. 450 per kilogram. They questioned the government’s failure to control what they described as an unchecked LPG mafia.
“The mafia is out of control, and the government has failed,” the protesters said, expressing frustration over the rising cost of daily necessities.
The demonstrators also demanded immediate relief in the prices of flour, education, petrol and healthcare. They said flour had become increasingly difficult for ordinary citizens to afford and alleged that powerful mafias were being given a free hand.
The protesters called on the government to take immediate action against profiteering and hoarding and provide relief to low-income families and working-class citizens.
