Sindh Government’s Special Independence Day Desert Safari Train Departs Karachi for Khokhrapar
The special train will travel through several historic and cultural locations across Sindh before reaching the Pakistan-India border at Khokhrapar. The train will travel from Karachi through Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas and Umerkot, eventually reaching Khokhrapar, where a special Independence Day ceremony will be held at the Parchi Ji Veri location.
More than 165 tourists are expected to participate in the journey. The visitors will have the opportunity to explore Sindh’s rich historical and cultural heritage as well as visit the Pakistan border area.
Sindh Provincial Minister for Culture and Tourism Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah officially flagged off the Independence Day train from Karachi Cantonment Railway Station. Deputy DS Operations Hamid Farooq Qureshi and other Pakistan Railways officials were also present on the occasion.
The safari train has been specially decorated with traditional Sindhi Ajrak, Pakistani national flags and banners featuring images of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, giving the train a festive Independence Day look.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister for Culture and Tourism Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah said the Desert Safari Train is being operated as an Independence Day train and will showcase the diverse cultural colors and heritage of Sindh.
He said the people of Pakistan are proud of the country’s achievements and paid tribute to Field Marshal General Asim Munir, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The provincial minister also highlighted Pakistan’s agreements with Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, saying Pakistan is now playing an important role in promoting peace at the international level.
