sc adjourns missing persons case till dec 5.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan Tuesday granted further time to the federal government, till Dec 5, to produce the remaining 33 missing persons before the court.
The three-member bench, comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja and Justice Amir Hani Muslim, also gave a warning to the Inspector General (IG) of the Frontier Corps (FC) paramilitary force to appear in court on Thursday or face contempt of court proceedings.
During the hearing, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Additional Secretary Defence Major General (retd) Arif Nazeer appeared before the bench and appraised it of current status of the 35 undeclared detainees.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif requested the court to grant more time to the
Government to resolve the issue.
Earlier, Khawaja Asif and newly appointed Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House and discussed the issue of missing persons.
