A local office-bearer of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) was gunned down in Pirabad locality on Friday (January 22) in Pakistan’s biggest city Karachi.
Police reported that victim 50-year-old, Mujeebur Rehman, was on his way when unidentified armed assailants riding on motorbikes intercepted the vehicle near Banaras Chowk and resorted to indiscriminate firing.
Pirabad police shifted the victim to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre but he succumbed to his injuries. His body was handed over to his heirs after completing medico-legal formalities.
The victim was PPP’s candidate in the last general elections from PS-96 constituency. Police said he was a property dealer. The motive behind the killing could not be ascertained till Investigation is in progress.
Taking notice of Khan’s murder, the Sindh chief minister ordered the provincial and city police chiefs to investigate the incident and report to him. The chief minister also expressed sympathies to the bereaved family.
