Singh High court has declared amendments in Sindh Local Government Act 2013 unconstitutional and illegal.
The Sindh High Court bench headed by Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, heard the petition filed against the Local Government Act.
Various parties including Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Pakistan Muslim League-N, Jamaat-e-Islami and Muslim League-Functional has filed a petition against Sindh Local Government Act 2013 Amendment Bill and delimitation.
According to the verdict, the new limitations in different areas of Sindh under the new amendments of the Local Bodies Act 2013, has been banned. Decision stated that the local government should hold elections under the 2001 limitations, and should refer to the Supreme Court for new limitations.
While talking to media on the Barrister Ishtiaq Ahmed said the government should hold transparent local elections and mandate of political parties should be accepted.
He said the court has said the locals elections should be held on 18th January according to old limitations.
