Funeral prayers for MQM ex-joint unit incharge Dilshad Ahmed were offered at Pakistan Chowk area in Karachi on Monday (October 28).
The last rites were attended by MQM coordination committee and large number of party workers.
Later, Dilshad was buried at Shuhada graveyard in Yasinabad.
Dilshad died at a hospital late on Sunday after remaining under treatment for two days.
MQM leader and relatives of Dilshad alleged that he was handed over to his family in critical condition, which indicated he was brutally tortured by Rangers.
Rangers have rejected the allegations.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader and the leader of the opposition in Sindh Assembly, Faisal Sabzwari said the party leader Altaf Hussain has urged calm and restraint, however the workers will not sit quiet if they are targeted continuously, he said.
Altaf Hussain, on Sunday strongly condemned the death of party worker, Dilshad Ahmed, who, according to MQM succumbed to the injuries allegedly inflicted upon him while he was in Rangers custody.
In a statement, Altaf Hussain sent his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
He appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, to take suo moto notice of Dilshad Ahmed’s murder and order an inquiry. He also urged the Chief Justice to issue orders for the recovery of MQM’s eight detained workers.
Altaf Hussain also made an appeal to the president, prime minister, federal interior minister, chief of the army and security agencies to investigate into the murder of Dilshad Ahmed and prosecute the personnel responsible for his brutal death.
