9 Police Personnel, Including Two SHOs, Martyred in Terrorist Attack in Ziarat
According to SP Ziarat Qadoos Dahwar, the attack targeted a police contingent deployed in the area. Security forces had been engaged in an exchange of fire with terrorists since the previous night before the deadly assault occurred.
The bodies of the martyred officers were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Ziarat. The fallen officers include SHO Mangi Muhammad Hussain and SHO Kowas Sohbat Khan, along with seven other police personnel.
Meanwhile, residents staged a protest by blocking the National Highway at Ziarat Cross in Pishin district against the abduction of more than 20 people, including police personnel.
According to protesters, unidentified armed men abducted the victims from an under-construction water tank near Mangi Dam, where the police officers had been deployed for security duties. The demonstrators demanded the immediate and safe recovery of all abducted individuals.
Officials said five of the kidnapped persons managed to escape from the captors, while efforts are underway to rescue the remaining hostages.
Security forces have launched operations in the area as investigations into the attack and abductions continue.
